If you’re planning on celebrating Valentine’s Day this weekend (as I know some people who have stopped celebrating it all together), have you planned what to wear? I find people make one of the three types of plans: fancy night on the town, casual night out, or romantic night in. What type of night are you planning? Let’s check out some of these wardrobe options, shall we? Also, check out this week’s Lookbook if you want some red options this V-day…
Fancy Night on the Town: Maybe you’re planning dinner at a nice hotel downtown, or have tickets to the opera – either way you’ll need a dress to fit the occasion. If you’re looking for basic black and white with a twist, this one-shouldered dress with studded waistline is adorable and totally unique. I also love the unique color of this coffee colored, tiered strapless dress. This loose fitting color block halter dress is an elegant choice for a dreamy evening. For an edgier look, try pairing any of these dresses with these distressed satin pumps.
Casual Night Out: Okay, perhaps you’re past the opera-attending stage of your relationship, or you’ve never been one to make that huge of an event out of Valentine’s Day. If so, then dinner at a nice restaurant is perhaps in your future. A great choice would be this embroidered racer back shift dress. It has just a little bit of sparkle at the top and could be worn a multitude of ways – either as a dress or top with skinny jeans or leggings, and a belt if you want a tapered waist look. I absolutely LOVE this swirl ruffled strapless tank top. You could really dress this up or down with accessories and either black pants or denim. This pink and black cami also has a ruffle, but is positioned horizontally for a distinctive look.
Romantic Night In: A romantic night in calls for something sexy you wouldn’t wear out of the house. Sure, going to Victoria’s Secret is an easy fix, but what if you want to wear something different this year? Try the “Red Light” collection from La Perla if you want to splurge on a unique lingerie look. For an equally sexy, but not as pricey, look; there’s this elegantly embroidered corset from Isabella’s. If you’re not into either of these looks, but still want to add some sexy into your night, be an “evil kitty” with the brand’s hot shorts, or pick up a delicate lacy silk cami and shorts set, which you can also wear to sleep (I’ve heard a corset could be a “little” uncomfortable to sleep in).
