Style Trends

It would be pretty difficult to get through the entire spring season without buying or wearing at least one dress.  That is what spring about, right?  After being cooped up in sweaters, boots, and pants all winter long, it feels nice to wear a feminine, breezy dress for a change.  There are obviously a plethora of choices out there, and as more and more pop up every day, it’s so hard to choose just a few!   So although I’m sure I’ll be posting another article on more dresses eventually, these are my top dress picks right now.

A tropcial vacation came to mind when I saw these dresses, although they’d be functional here at home (eventually)too.  This nautical, striped one is so classic, yet looks so comfortable and sexy at the same time.  And this neutral (spring color trend!) crocheted cotton dress is a must-have for a nice dinner here or on vacation.  If you’ve got a trip planned, lucky you…I am so jealous right now.  If not, maybe you want to plan one just to wear them!

If you love studs or any type of embellishments as much as I do, then you’ll love these dresses.  If you want to look sexy, sophisticated, and edgy this spring, you must pay a visit to the suburbs and try on this studded purple dress (or ship it to you…whatever works).  Want a versatile dress?  Try this tunic mini-dress.  It has minimal studs, so it’s not too overbearing, plus you could either wear it alone or with some leggings, jeggings, or old-fashioned denim this spring.

Going to party and have nothing to wear?  Try either this super-cute strapless dress with pink ruffles or ballerina-inspired fuschia applique dress.  These are both fun, whimsical dresses that could be worn for a dressier night out in the city.

Ok, I know I recently created a lookbook of floral trends for spring, but I could not help including a few more floral dresses here.  How could I (or anyone) resist this gorgeous black and white floral batwing dress by Anna Fong???  It’s so amazing…a definite must-have for any girl’s closet!  This strapless floral number, also by Anna, is really sweet too…love the belt and button detail.  And as an added bonus, the pleats in the skirt will give you a nice slimming effect.  So even though the dress appears more fitted, the pleats will help hide any problem areas, or at least allow you to eat without worry.

Prints are totally in this spring too.  If you’re looking for a patterned dress you won’t see yourself coming and going in, try this scribble-patterned black and cream dress.  Not only is the design unique, but so is the style with the pleated, grecian-inspired top.  Yet it’s totally versatile as the colors go with anything.  If you want to wear multiple patterns/textures, but not look ridiculous in the process, try this multi-colored paint splash dress from Nicole Miller.  This dress would be so cute to wear alone to a party, or even to work with a blazer or cardigan over it.

Which is your favorite dress for spring?
