Daily Style

For some reason, I feel like there’s another baby boom coming on. It seems every time I turn around I see another pregnant woman on the streets of Chicago, or am 6 degrees (probably more like 3) of separation from another pregnancy story. Perhaps it’s just my imagination, but it made me think about buying gifts for these new (or soon to be) new moms.  I’m not talking about gifts for their new baby.  No, I mean THE MOM.  This woman is about to have (or has already had) all the focus of her life shifted away to that baby.  Not a bad thing, but that poor woman just pushed out a baby, or had a c-section, or fears having either happen to her.  She needs some support, for goodness sake!  So show her some with these fun, yet necessary gifts:

As a new mom myself, I can appreciate all the goodies in this Motherhood Essentials gift set available at Hot Mama.  Nursing cream, eye brightening cream, body firming serum, and moisturizing hand sanitizer — she’ll need all of them.  Trust me.

Another new mom-to-be essential is stretch mark oil. She’ll need to start slathering this stuff on even if she doesn’t think she needs it. I wasn’t sure if I would get stretch marks or not, but someone bought me stretch mark oil, I used it anyway, and do not have any stretch marks. Maybe I’m just not predisposed to get them, but why take the chance?

As a mom-to-be gets bigger and bigger, working out becomes harder and harder. Then she has the baby, and she’s too exhausted to do normal workouts right away. Yoga is a great way to incorporate some level of exercise and toning while not overexerting like with say, kickboxing. This kit has both prenatal and postnatal exercises, plus includes everything she’ll need like a mat, block, and yoga strap.

Finally, what every new mom needs is a stylish…wait for it…diaper bag! Ugh. This really is every woman’s nightmare. Who wants to walk around with this ugly, obnoxious, ginormous bag carrying every item her child could need? It just screams “My life is no longer about me!!! I can’t even have a cute handbag anymore!” Don’t let this happen to her. There are plenty of options out there nowadays. If you wanted to splurge, and perhaps pitch in with some friends, get her this stud bag by Boujie Baby at Krista K Maternity. It’s more expensive, but also quite large. She’ll never need to worry that both her and baby’s things won’t fit.

There are also plenty of styles in a more moderate price range like this one from Nest West at Belly Dance Maternity. Diaper bags in general are expensive…sometimes you could even find a regular roomy bag for less, but this one is adorable and functional
